Hello! I’m Vonna Lovett

Accompanying my compassion for people is my passion to offer a safe place to identify and process current hurts in the therapy setting. It is my desire to join with you in seeking release of past struggles and looking to the future. With families, couples, and individuals I can offer resources to assist in the desires for healing and wholeness while reaching the full potential in your life. If that journey deals with grief/loss, addictions, trauma, divorce, family challenges, or individual challenges, I would consider meeting you where you are on that journey a privilege. Together I would envision discovering hope and finding compassion through belief in the healing journey.

Credentials & Training:

I received my Bachelors Degree in Education at Oklahoma Christian University and in 2013 completed my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy at Southern Nazarene University. I am a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist in the state of Oklahoma (License #1195).   I have been conducting grief groups with training from the American Academy of Bereavement for over 20 years.  I am certified in EMDR Therapy and am a Master Life Coach (ICF).

SERVICES

I offer services to individuals, couples, and families and I also provide group therapy.  My standard fee  is $120-$140 for a 50 – 55 minute session.  I also have a sliding scale based on income that I would consider in some circumstances. The insurances I currently accept are Healthchoice, United Healthcare, Tricare, and Oklahoma Health Network. I also can take some other insurance benefits on an out of network basis.  Please contact me for details. Day time, evening and some Saturday appointments available!

Areas of Practice: Addiction (individual, couples, and families), Family Conflict, Relationship Issues, Grief/Loss, Trauma, Parenting , Coping, & Self Esteem, Trauma.

Trauma

Direct personal experience of an event that involves actual or threatened death or serious injury; threat to one's physical integrity, witnessing an event that involves the above experience, learning about unexpected or violent death, serious harm, or threat of death, or injury experienced by a family member or close associate. People with trauma do not always remember the event but certain situations seem to trigger the fear.  The person's response to aversive details of traumatic events involve intense fear, helplessness or horror.

Grief

A natural, yet painful response to loss. There is no right or wrong way to grieve, but there are healthy ways to cope with the pain and express your emotions in ways that allow you to heal.

You may associate grief with the death of a loved one, but any loss can cause grief, including the loss of a relationship, your health, your job, or a cherished dream. After a significant loss, you may experience all kinds of difficult and surprising emotions, such as shock, anger, and guilt.

Addiction

A condition that results when a person ingests a substance (e.g., alcohol, cocaine, nicotine) or engages in an activity (e.g., gambling, sex, shopping) that can be pleasurable, but the continuation of which becomes compulsive and interferes with ordinary responsibilities and concerns, such as work, relationships, or health. People who have developed an addiction may not be aware that their behavior is out of control and causing problems for themselves and others.

Marriage & Family

Families and couples often find themselves in difficult situations in life that do not seem to be workable without the assistance of a professional.  Just a few of those situations can be problematic behavior of a family member, change in the family unit due to death, loss of job, or divorce, or developmental levels the family finds themselves in.
